I played D2 back in the day and play now D3 from time to time. It’s too bad blizzard has lost a lot of fans and hype over the past decade because it would be interesting to see how many copies Diablo 4 could have sold had blizzard not been so lacklustre the past decade+. Diablo 4 will likely have more sales than any other Diablo game but that’s mostly because of the fact that it’s available on many consoles at launch and also because the number of people who play video games today compared to in 2012 is much much much larger. Lots of hardcore Diablo fans know now that Diablo games are usually mid-tier at launch and eventually over years become amazing games. Not only that but the recent problems and boycotting have just dropped the overall hype for diablo 4. The best blizzard launch of a new game in the past decade was Diablo Immortal, and people still hated that game. Starcraft 2 is potentially Blizzards best game but when it came out it needed A LOT of work. The hype is not at the levels of Diablo 3 hype and it’s because of the past decade+ of lacklustre Blizzard launches.
